BAM Philippines QC Fellowship How it Felt to Gather: More Than Just Business
March 7, 2025
Imagine walking into a room filled with fellow Christian business owners, but it feels… different. It started with worship, right? Like, really powerful worship. The QC Worship Team—Ps. Sherwin and Jam Velez, Pia, Aian, Mark, and Ryan—they just led us straight into God’s presence. It wasn’t just music; it was like the room was filled with His glory.
Rev. Collen Lo, Business as Mission Philippines’ Shepherding Pastor, called it ‘Koinonia’ which means Christian fellowship or communion, with God or, more commonly, with fellow Christians. That’s exactly what it felt like. It was not just another networking event, but a God-ordained gathering. A place where we could connect on a deeper level, find real community. You know, a space where the whole ‘Business as Mission’ thing wasn’t just talk, but something we lived.
Afterwards, Hanky Lee, Innkeeper of The Henry Hotels & Resorts in the Philippines, got up to speak. He wasn’t about fancy titles or showing off his achievements. He was just being real. He started off by saying, ‘I am broken, sinful, idolatrous, but also redeemed, loved, a servant, saved, a child of God.’ How honest is that? It hit home.
He talked about how leadership reflects the heart. ‘As above, so below,’ he said. What’s inside you shapes your business. And he declared, ‘I am a victorious leader because I have experienced God’s love, and I can share that with my employees.’
He shared three big takeaways:
- Going from Implementor to Integrator: Letting God be the integrator, not just you.
- Embracing Refinement: Recognizing that God’s plan involves constant refinement.
- Being a Joseph: Serving faithfully in the marketplace, wherever God places you.
Then, Dra. Mary Gaw So, the owner of the venue (ReHub Real Estate Hub Bldg.), where the BAM event was held, spoke, and gave everyone a challenge. She reminded us, ‘We are accountable in our own marketplace.’ It’s true, isn’t it? We have a responsibility in our spheres of influence.
And she was just so grateful. ‘I’m blessed,’ she said, and you could feel that gratitude in the room. She wanted us all to ‘reconnect to our Lord.’
She even gave out ‘spiritual vitamins’ – little Bible verses in vitamin containers! And stress balls with Scripture! How cool is that?
She talked about how God has blessed her business with ‘amazing deals,’ and how even her birthday party became an opportunity to share the Word.
She also mentioned how she holds regular Bible studies at her workplace. She emphasized how our spiritual lives are the ‘backbone of everything we do and everything we are.’
Cathy Tan, our BAM Philippines Core Lead, wrapped things up by thanking everyone and reminding us about the BAM Pledge and the recently help BAM Philippine Conference last October 17th and 18th, 2025.
Honestly, we left feeling so much more than just connected.
We left with a challenge: to be Biblical, Authentic, and Missional in our businesses. A renewed sense of purpose. A deeper understanding of our role as Christian business owners. And a reminder that true success is found in faith and community.
We were blessed, and we were reminded to really take care of our spiritual lives, because that’s what we’re built on.
