IR. DR. NEHEMIAH LEE CHEE HAI
Ir. Dr Nehemiah Lee Chee Hai is the Founder Chairman of the Nehemiah Group of Companies, a Malaysian-owned construction and engineering group known for its patented "Nehemiah Wall" retaining wall system — a fixture along Malaysian expressways such as the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway and KL-Karak Highway. Born and raised in Kahang New Village, Johor, he scored straight A's at the National Junior College in Singapore before choosing to study at the University of Malaya over the National University of Singapore. He later obtained a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, USA, declining an offer to remain there in order to return and serve his home country.
After working in the Irrigation and Drainage Department and the private sector, he co-founded Nehemiah Reinforced Soil Sdn Bhd in 1993 with engineer Eugene Oh. The Nehemiah Group today operates across Sri Lanka, Singapore, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and India. He has received numerous awards including the Institution of Civil Engineers (UK) International Award for integrity in business (2013), and is known for his uncompromising Strictly Private & Confidential zero-tolerance stance on corruption. He published his autobiography, The Wall Stories of a Jar of Clay, in recent years.
